Prevention

Since there are shot you can take to prevent SARS the most important things are the small things. You should wear a mask over your mouth and nose to prevent yourself from breathing in particles of the virus, a surgical mask is works well. Also you should wash your heads regualarly, and try to avoid touching you face. The last thing you should due is to try and avoid the people that are infected with SARS. REMEMBER THAT RESPIRATORY PARTICLES CAN ONLY BE CAUGHT WITHIN 2 FEET OF AN INFECTED PERSON.

Getting Sars

Sars can only be transmitted through close contact or contact of body fluids. Close contact does not mean sitting across a room from a sick person for a few minutes. Close contact would be considered: kissing, sharing eating utensils, or anything like that. You can also get SARS through respiratory droplets caused by coughing or Sneezing. Respiratory droplets are droplets of mucus or salvia shot out of your mouth or nose.

SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome)

SARS was first reported in Guangdong Province (China), Hanoi (Vietnam), and Hong Kong. It is a virus that is transimited through the air by respiratory droplets which are caused by coughing or sneezing directly into the air (SARS Basics). The disease itself was first reported by Dr. Carlo Urbani of the World Health Organization (Severe). Tiawan, China was where the last case was of SARS was before the outbreak was stopped (Graph). By the end of the outbreak 8,098 people worldwide had been infected with the SARS virus, 774 of those people had died (SARS Basics).
