Most Recent Outbreak

The most recent outbreak occured between November 2002 and  July 2003. The virus started in three areas of Asia: Hong Kong, Guangdong Province (China), and Hanoi (Vietnam). Healthcare workers were affected greatly, since they had to work with people infected with SARS which is spead through close contact. By the end of the outbreak 8,098 were infected and 774 had died from the disease.
